What happens to what you type

  • It runs in your browser. Our calculators, symptom checkers, lab-result interpreters, the symptom score, and the appointment builder do their work on your device. The numbers and symptoms you enter are not sent to our servers.
  • No account, no email required. You never have to sign in to use a tool.
  • Only the diary remembers anything — on your device. The symptom diary saves your entries in your browser's local storage so they're there when you come back. They stay on that device and are never uploaded. Clearing your browser data erases them, so print a copy if you want to keep it.
  • We don't attach your inputs to analytics. We may count how many people visit a tool page, but we do not log the specific values you enter into it.

Why we do it this way

A tool that quietly harvested your symptoms would be worth less than one you can trust. Keeping the computation on your device means you get the answer without giving anything up — which fits how we think about health information generally. See our editorial process and how we review products.

The rest of the site

Newsletter sign-ups and the "was this helpful?" feedback are the exceptions — those you choose to send us, and they're covered by our privacy policy. Everything about the interactive tools above is covered by this page.
