Tirzepatide is a prescription injectable medication sold as Mounjaro (for type 2 diabetes) and Zepbound (for weight management). It is a "dual agonist" — it activates two gut-hormone receptors, GIP and GLP-1 — which together lower blood sugar, slow stomach emptying, and reduce appetite.

It is related to but distinct from semaglutide (Ozempic/Wegovy), which targets GLP-1 only. Like other drugs in this space it commonly causes gastrointestinal side effects, is a clinician-directed treatment (not a quick fix), and weight tends to return if it is stopped. See tirzepatide (Mounjaro and Zepbound).
